Willow at Oxbow Woodfire.jpg

I am a maker working at the intersection of art, design, and science.

I am driven by curiosity, a love of exploration, and a vast love for material and process.

I use the medium of ceramics to investigate the natural world and build a personal connection with our environment, Through meditative acts of creation, I create something a little different each day and discover something new each time.

I love exploring the joy of knowledge, understanding, and discovery that can show us wonder in the world. I seek to explore understanding of the sciences and their unending connection to the arts in a less conventional path. Through ceramics, I find ways to investigate form through throwing, material through glaze, and fire through alternative and manual firing processes.

From the materiality to the end result, the process is one that I deeply enjoy and connect with. The rich history of ceramics gives me a lot of inspiration to draw from and lets me be a part of a practice that is so important to human history in so many different times and places and in so many ways. I find we take for granted the cheap mass-produced dishes, plates, containers, and vases and so often don’t take the time to appreciate the things we own and what capacity they have to bring joy into our lives. I want the objects in our lives to be valued and treasured as a part of the household and as a part of our lives, there to make us feel a bit more human.
